Description
Pilar de la Horadada is a pleasant town with a lovely Spanish character, located in the south of the province of Alicante, right on the border with the Region of Murcia about 50 minutes south-west of Alicante and has around 15,000 inhabitants. It has a modern square with many local shops, bars, cafés, restaurants on the main street, lots of sports facilities including gyms, tennis, paddle courts and a public sports centre with a heated indoor Olympic size pool along many other activities. There is a popular weekly street market with an abundance of locally grown fruit, vegetables, olives etc.
The village is very popular among Spanish and foreign tourists without being overcrowded. Away from the traffic is a dedicated pedestrian and bicycle path called “La Rambla”, from the centre it takes you just under 10 minutes by bike down to the beach and about 15min to the old square in Torre de la Horadada. Turning towards the sea you find many fine beaches, including Torre de La Horadada, Mil Palmeras and Higuericas. For golf enthusiasts, there are plenty of golf courses in the area close by like the famous Lo Romero Golf Resort.
In recent years the town has seen a range of construction projects in the area including luxurious apartments, townhouses and villa developments. It is now considered a sought-after location, only 3 km from stunning sandy beaches it still retains all the traditions and charm of a typically Spanish town surrounded by nature and farmland. Pilar de la Horadada is an ideal destination for people looking for a property on the coast with a perfect mix of sun, sea, beach, culture and nature.
