The Costa Blanca South region forms part of the province of Alicante, stretching from the City of Alicante itself all the way down to Pilar de la Horadada at the southern end covering 65km’s of stunning coastline. This magnificent coast has something for everyone, from larger towns with vibrant atmospheres to traditional quaint fishing villages.
The Southern Costa Blanca has become increasingly popular with expats including those buying a holiday home in Spain or moving permanently. It is an attractive tourist destination and there is no shortage of property options, making it a top destination for those in searching for a home in the sun.
The airport of Alicante is the third largest in Spain and where most people arrive on the Costa Blanca. Alternatively, there is Murcia International Airport (Corvera), both destinations are within a 45 min car journey. Alicante is a charming city, it has an impressive marina, beaches and the Castle of Santa Bárbara. Further south from Alicante you have popular towns like Elche famous for its many palm trees and historic Orihuela town. There are numerous coastal resorts such as Gran Alacant, Araneales del Sol, Santa Pola where you can take the ferry to the small island of Tabarca and Guardamar all with miles of beautiful sandy beaches. Nearby Cuidad Quesada - Rojales has the famous golf resorts of La Marquesa golf and La Finca golf, close to the popular towns such as Benijofar, Algorfa and Daya Nueva.
Heading back to the coast, you have the vibrant town of Torrevieja, surrounded by pink salty lagoons and miles of sandy beaches including La Mata. Orihuela Costa, 7 km south, you will find the most wonderful selection of prestigious golf courses; Royal Campoamor golf, Las Ramblas golf, las Colinas golf and lastly the world famous Villamartin golf course. Here you have an abundance of beach resorts, such as Punta Prima, Playa Flamenca, La Zenia, Cabo Roig, Dehesa de Campoamor, Mil Palmeras, and Torre de la Horadada with the town of Pilar de la Horadada slightly more inland.
The most popular area of Orihuela Costa is more international than Spanish and famous for its fine sandy crystal-clear water beaches, palm trees and colourful local markets. This thriving holiday and expatriate community consists of numerous popular towns all with their own unique charm.
