Description
Santa Pola is an established coastal town on the Costa Blanca south of Alicante, known for its extensive sandy beaches, working fishing port and easy access to the island of Tabarca. It appeals to a wide market; holidaymakers, families and long-stay residents, thanks to its seaside location and well-developed services.
Located on the Mediterranean coast just south of the city of Alicante. The town offers an easy coastal base for exploring the Costa Blanca south (Torrevieja, Guardamar and Orihuela Costa are all within short drives) and has good road links. By road it lies roughly 14–18 km from Alicante (ALC) airport — typically a 15-to-25-minute drive depending on traffic, there are taxi and shuttle options and regular regional bus links.
Santa Pola has several well-regarded beaches including Gran Playa (the main promenade beach), Playa de Levante, Tamarit and Playa Lisa — sandy, family-friendly stretches popular for swimming and water sports. The harbour area and seafront promenade provide cafés, restaurants and leisure facilities. A working fishing port and marina add character and fishing culture; there are boat trips to Tabarca island and nearby golf courses within a short drive. The nearby salt-lagoon areas are a local natural attraction.
The town is fully serviced for year-round living: supermarkets, shops, pharmacies, banks, health centre, schools and a weekly market. Larger retail and leisure options (shopping centres, larger hospitals and specialist clinics) are available nearby.
Santa Pola offers a perfect combination of pleasant climate, coastal location, good food, natural environment, infrastructure and quality services.
