Villamartin is a cosmopolitan, Mediterranean coastal resort in the southernmost quarter of the Alicante province, just 10 km southwest of Torrevieja. Although slightly inland, Villamartin is only a 3 km drive to some of the best sandy beaches this beautiful part of the Orihuela Costa has to offer – perfect for soaking up the sunshine, cooling off with a swim, or enjoying the nearby shopping paradise “Zenia Boulevard” all located only 45 min south from Alicante and Murcia airports.

The area that makes up Villamartin consists of the popular urbanisations; Los Dolses, Rioja, Valencia South, Valencia North, Violetas, Pau-8, La Fuente of which are surrounded by Villacosta, Eagles Nest, El Presidente, Monte Golf, Las Filipinas, El Galan and Blue Lagoon. All the shops, facilities, and amenities you need for easy day-to-day living are centrally located along Villamartin’s main street, as well as in the individual communities commercial centres Los Dolses, Rioja, La Fuente and the famous Villamartin Plaza. All of which have large supermarkets, including Dialprix, Lidl, Mercadona, Alcampo and Consum within a 5 minute drive. Not to forget the colourful local markets most days, where you can buy fresh, local produce, vegetables, olives as well as clothes and household items. They open at 8 am and wind down around 1.30 pm, and you can be sure of picking up a bargain or two.

Villamartin Golf course
The famous Villamartin Golf Course hosted the World Championship event, “The Mediterranean Open” in 1994 and was constructed and built by Mr. Putmann and opened in June 1972. This 18-hole course is par 72 and the length is 6132 meters from the white tees, 6037 from yellow, and 5259 from red. It is very diverse and unlike many other courses in this part of Spain whereby none of the holes are equal, from where you can enjoy beautiful views over the Mediterranean Sea. The popular Clubhouse of Villamartín Golf Course offers an incomparable natural environment, his terrace is the ideal place to recharge after your round of golf, with a wonderful view of the golf course. This stunning area of Spain has become a very popular destination, increasing numbers of golfers from the UK and Europe, partly thanks to the spectacular scenery and take advantage of the sublime sunny and warm winter climate – according to the ‘World Health Organisation’, one of the healthiest on earth. If you’ve been bitten by the golf bug, you can fulfil your passion at any one of 4 championship golf courses, all within a 4 km radius of Villamartin.
Villamartin Plaza – The most famous of the commercial centres
At the heart of the community is this beautiful and traditionally Spanish Plaza built of typical Spanish architecture, set over two levels, featuring a stunning square built around a central courtyard with fountains, rockeries, and palm trees. Residential homes overlook the beautiful central area, with many busy restaurants and bars below. It’s a focal point and a lively oasis at the heart of Villamartin and conveniently located opposite the internationally renowned Villamartin Golf Club.
There is always something happening throughout the year in the Villamartin Plaza and you can enjoy a variety of outdoor live music, be entertained by international stars and fresh local talents from Spain. There is a superb array of lively bars, a fantastic selection of quality restaurants all offering an incredible range of mouth-watering food, from snacks and tapas to a range of local delicacies, international cuisine and fine dining. If you prefer to eat in, there is a small supermarket located within the Plaza, as well as other day to day amenities such as bank and several ATM cash points, hair dresser, dental services, osteopaths, post office, and private doctor all located in and around the Plaza.
