The Costa Blanca's northern region, also known as Marina Alta, stretches from Denia in the north down to Benidorm. This area is characterized by its mountainous terrain, hidden coves, and a mix of larger tourist centres and smaller, villages. The sandy beaches are beautiful and never overcrowded. Inland there are many charming towns such as Jativa, Villalonga, Orba and Benidoleig with its incredible nature areas.
Along the coast you will find Denia, this is a tourist town with a marina and port, where you can take a ferry to Ibiza and Mallorca. To the south of Denia is Javea, with its lovely sandy beaches and Moraira which is a smaller town both known for their amazing views and friendly atmosphere.
Teulada is inland from Moraira, along with the town of Benissa, which has many hills that stretch to the coast and beaches with rocky coves. From here you will find Calpe, the town attracts a large number of visitors annually, drawn to its natural beauty, diverse attractions, and vibrant atmosphere. Calpe has the Peñón de Ifach, a famous rock that which emerges from the sea, which on both sides are two fantastic and wide sandy beaches.
Traveling southwards, we go through the beautiful Altea, with its old town having kept its pristine whitewashed houses and winding cobbled streets leading you up to the church place, a meeting point with first class restaurants and designer shops. Altea is without a doubt one of the most charming towns to be found in Spain with its combination of old and new. Within walking distance you arrive to Alfaz del Pi with its stunning Albir beach promenade area.
Benidorm is the largest tourist centre on the Costa Blanca, it is a thriving, diverse town with lots of tall high-rise hotels and apartment blocks that dominate the skyline. Levante and Poniente beaches are excellent and renowned for its nightlife. There are numerous of hotels, cafes, entertainment, shopping and a number of great family theme parks like Terra Mitica, Aqualandia and Aqua Natura.
From Benidorm you can make an excursion to the interior, to La Nucía, Polop or to the castle of Guadalest, which is a recognised tourist attraction on the Costa Blanca. The Algar waterfalls are also a very famous tourist attraction where you can bathe in its crystal-clear waters. After Benidorm, the coast becomes flat, there are kilometers of sandy beaches with the mountains in the background.
