San Pedro del Pinatar is at the touristic heart of the Costa Cálida. Situated between the Mar Menor and the Mediterranean Sea, this small seaside town is famous for its fishing background, therapeutic mud baths, salt flats and vast stretches of sand. Originally a small fishermen village named after Saint Peter who protected the fishermen and worked out at sea. The Parque Regional de las Salinas and Arenales de San Pedro is a protected natural area just between the town and the marina on the Mediterranean (Puerto Marina de las Salinas) is home to many migratory birds and flamingos.
In recent years this sea side town has seen many modern construction projects in close proximity to the Mar Menor, such as modern apartments, townhouses and luxury villas.
