Mil Palmeras, which means "a thousand palms", is a district of the municipality of Pilar de la Horadada located in Orihuela Costa, on the coast of Mediterranean Sea and shares borders with Dehesa de Campoamor on the northern end. It was very popular with Scandinavians in the '80s, now it has a good mix of nationalities. In summer, this little village is full speed, while in the winter months, it is a little quieter.
Mil Palmeras is famous for its three beaches, Playa Mil Palmeras, Playa Vistamar and Playa del Río, all of them with a Blue Flag and rated with the “Q” for Quality, known for their fine sand and crystal-clear waters. They have several beach bars ( the popular beach bar “Popeye” has live music every Friday ), and a wide range of water sports to delight the whole family and even a space reserved for people with reduced mobility!
Mil Palmeras has all the necessary services and is only 5 minutes by car from the main town Pilar de la Horadada. The gastronomy of Mil Palmeras beach side is also important, it has a wide variety of bars and restaurants of all kinds that offer an incredible variety of Mediterranean dishes.

Although the new construction works have transformed the urban landscape of Mil Palmeras, it is true that there are two completely different areas, the oldest part basically urbanised with apartments and bungalows known in the area as “the Vikings” and the area of residential neighbourhoods of villas with larger plots and more space between neighbouring properties. The most recent style constructions offer apartments in luxurious developments with all kinds of services and amenities, and modern villas on smaller and more manageable plots.
